The Power of Facebook Advertising

Facebook advertising is the most powerful advertising platform in the world. It's also the most economical way to get your product, service or brand out to the world or in your local area.

Whether you have a modest or a sizable budget,  you can produce big results by reaching the right audience.

And speaking of audiences, there are four types that make the cash register ring:

  • Targeted
  • Custom
  • Lookalike
  • Retargeted

Targeted Audiences are built around your specific buyer persona. For example; demographics, buying behaviors, age ranges, gender, educational level, the Facebook pages they like and engage with, marital and family status, favorite stores, even the kind of cars they drive. These are just a few examples, but you can see that part of the power of the Ads Platform is how granular you can get with targeting.

Custom Audiences are built around your opt-in email lists and your website traffic. It makes sense that the people that have already given you their business or visited your website would be great customers to target. Even more important is that Custom Audiences form the base for Lookalike Audiences which are generally much larger audiences.

Lookalike Audiences are build from Custom Audiences derived from your email lists and website visitors. Once you have at least a Custom Audience of 1,000 people, you can create a Lookalike Audience. These audiences can be up to 2,000,000 people. If you are a local business or service, you can limit this audience to your geographical area. It reduces the number of people you reach, but they are 99% your buyer profile.

Retargeted Audiences are built from visits to website or store that did not convert to a sale. Here’s a sobering statistic: 96% of visitors that come to your website are not ready to buy. They land on your site, look around a while, then leave without purchasing. And most visitors forget about your website when they move on to something else.

A Retargeted Audience is formed by bringing back website visitors who did not convert to a sale when they came to your site the first time. This kind of ad has likely targeted you. If you notice that all of a sudden, you are seeing a product or service, you looked, again and again, that’s retargeting.
