In-market audiences

Your next customers are already in market.

They have not searched for you yet. They are researching, comparing, and asking around, and that behavior is visible. We build you an audience of those people, rebuild it every week, and hand it to you as a file you own and run wherever you already advertise. You see exactly which websites it came from, which nobody else in this business will show you.

01 · The problem

Retargeting only reaches people who already found you.

Everyone knows retargeting works. The catch is that it only reaches people who already came to your site, and for most businesses that pool is too small to run a real campaign against. So you pay to reach the same few hundred people who were going to call you anyway.

Meanwhile the prospecting half of your budget targets age ranges, incomes and interests, which is a polite way of saying guessing. Attributes describe who somebody is. They say nothing about whether that person is buying this month.

02 · What you get

An audience you own, not a report you read.

Three things arrive, and the first one is the point. Everything here is yours to use on any channel you already run.

01

The audience

People showing in-market behavior for what you sell, inside the geography you serve. Personal and business email, mobile, and the identifiers the ad platforms match on. Rebuilt every week. People who never respond drop out, new matches come in. It is a file, and it is yours.

02

The source list

The complete roster of websites your audience was built from, with the share each one contributes. If a site looks wrong for your business, say so and we remove it. If you know where your buyers spend time, tell us and we look at adding it.

03

The pixel

A tag on your site that identifies visitors, including the ones who never fill out a form. That builds a second audience out of your own traffic, growing the whole time you are running.

03 · Audience, not list

This is an audience. It is not a list.

A list is selected on who someone is. An audience is selected on what someone is doing. Attributes do not expire, which is why a list is sold once and starts rotting the day it arrives. Behavior does expire, which is why an audience has to be rebuilt every week to stay true.

So people leave yours on purpose. That is the part that confuses buyers who are used to lists. Everyone in a well built audience is supposed to buy something and go. If nobody ever left, you would know it was broken.

04 · Built to your business

There is no shelf. The audience gets built to what you actually sell.

A wedding venue and a caterer are both in the wedding business and they are not the same audience. A land use attorney and a personal injury attorney are both lawyers and their buyers have nothing in common: one is a developer reading zoning filings eighteen months before anything happens, the other is somebody who was in a car accident on Tuesday.

It goes further down than that. Personal injury is not one audience. Auto accident and workplace injury are separate audiences, with separate behavior and separate source sites, and there are more layers below those. Land use splits along a line most firms already feel: corporate developers on one side, individual homeowners fighting a zoning decision on the other. Same statutes, completely different person, completely different signal.

So the first work is not building anything. It is working out which behaviors actually signal a buyer for your specialty, and which source sites carry those people. Some specialties have deep, obvious signal. Some are thinner and need the audience stacked differently. You find that out in the first conversation, before you spend anything.

Worked examples: wedding venues and law firms.

05 · Where it comes from

We are not asking you to trust a black box, because we are not giving you one.

Every other company selling intent data hands you a score and asks you to believe it. We hand you the roster: the actual list of websites your audience was built from, and what share of it each one contributed. You can add to it and you can cut from it. If you want to know why a name is on your audience, the honest answer is on one page you can read in a minute.

06 · What this is not

The part most companies leave out.

These are not leads

Nobody filled out a form and nobody raised a hand. This is an audience of people whose behavior says they are in market, which is earlier and different than an inquiry. Treat it like an audience and it works. Treat it like a lead list and you will be disappointed.

We cannot pinpoint one person to one website

We know what the audience is made of and in what proportion. We do not know which single site any one person came from, and anyone who tells you they can is overselling.

Not every visitor can be identified

Bots and unidentifiable traffic are real. The pixel names a meaningful share of your traffic, not all of it.

We do not run your campaigns

You keep the people you already work with. Your ads person gets better targets to aim at instead of a new vendor to argue with. If you want help with the campaigns later, that is a separate conversation.

07 · One client per market

We will not build the same audience twice in one town.

An audience only helps you if your competitor down the road does not have the same one. So we build it for one business per market per category. When a market is taken, it is taken.

08 · The first step

Ask us what your market looks like.

Tell us what you sell and where you sell it. We will come back with how many people are showing in-market behavior in your radius right now and which sites they are on. That conversation is free and it is useful whether or not you buy anything.

Engagements begin at $1,800 a month. What yours costs depends on the size of your market and how many specialties you need built.
