P5

SEO and AEO

Search has two surfaces now.

There are the results people click, and there is the answer the machine gives instead. Most agencies still work the first one and guess at the second. We work both, and we measure the one almost nobody measures.

01 · What changed

Ranking first is no longer the same as being found.

A growing share of questions now get answered before anyone reaches a website. The person asks, the model responds, and the response either names you or it does not. You can hold the top organic position and still be invisible in the place the decision actually gets made.

The good news is that the work has not been replaced, it has been extended. Answer engines are drawing on the same web, reading the same structure, and weighing the same signals of authority. Sound SEO is the foundation that AEO is built on. What is new is that you now have to check the answers, not just the rankings, and almost nobody is doing that for their clients.

02 · The work

Six things, done properly.

01

Technical foundation

Crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, and the unglamorous fixes that decide whether anything else you do gets counted. Most sites we inherit are losing on this layer and nobody has told them.

02

Structured data

Schema that describes your business, your services, your people and your locations in the format machines read. This mattered for rich results. It matters far more now that answer engines are assembling responses from structured sources.

03

Content that targets real gaps

Keyword and competitive research against live data, not a brainstorm. We find the terms where demand exists and the field is thin, and we write for those rather than for volume.

04

AI answer visibility

We query the major answer engines on the questions your buyers ask and record what comes back: whether you are mentioned, who is mentioned instead, and which sources they cite. Tracked over time, not sampled once.

05

Competitive intelligence

Where competitors outrank you, which of their pages earn it, what they published this month, and which of their positions are actually takeable. Specific enough to act on.

06

Reporting you can read

A monthly readout with complete calendar months, queries classified by intent, and a backlog that carries between months so nothing quietly disappears. Not a dashboard screenshot.

03 · Who does it

Twenty-five years of figuring out where audiences live online.

P5 has been doing search work since 1996, through every algorithm change, every panic, and every declaration that SEO was dead. The work is senior and it is hands on. You are not handed to a coordinator who forwards your questions to somebody else. That also means we take a small number of clients, and we do not take two who compete with each other.

04 · How it runs

An audit, then a backlog that actually moves.

We start with a full technical and content audit and a baseline of where you currently appear, in search and in AI answers. That produces a prioritized list, ordered by what will move first rather than what is easiest to write up.

Then it runs monthly. Work gets done, the backlog carries forward, and the readout tells you what changed against the month before. Items do not quietly vanish between reports, and you always know what is next and why.

05 · The first step

Find out what the machines say about you.

Send us your site and the questions your buyers ask. We will come back with where you rank, where you appear in AI answers, and who is showing up in your place.
